GSF GOAT OF THE YEAR

_______________________________

Jessie and Frank

2024 - Jessie & Frank James

Jessie and Frank James came to us in May of 2023. Their owner has issues with the boys breaking out. The goats, apparently, were quite the jumpers and couldn't be contained in the owner's field. Since the owner still wanted goats, we did a trade for two babies that were not "escape artists". So, Houston and Dieter were traded for Frank and Jessie James. These adorable little white Nigerian Dwarfs have been a joy to raise and integrate into the flock. Since the James brothers are a pair, we've named both as "Goats of the Year" for 2024

Jackson

2023 - JACKSON

Jackson was born to Ginger and Magnus on July 8, 2022; however, it wasn't a normal birth. Ginger gave birth to two healthy baby goats early that morning. Later that night, we went out to check on our animals, surprisingly we found two new baby goats crying and no momma around!! Eventually we figured out Ginger was the missing momma! In a nutshell, she dropped 2 babies in the morning and 2 more in the evening.  Ginger rejected Jackson so we bottle feed him. He pretty much has become a pet, He will come when called, and will let us walk him on a least.  Jackson is just too cute and is GSF's goat of the year for 2023.

Annie

2022 - ANNIE

Annie is probably the sweetest of all our original goats. She was skinny, shy and ended up contracting a bad case of pink eye. Our neighbor mentor helped us with the treatment since we knew little about goat care at the time.  Annie made a full recovery and regained about 90% of her sight.  We have a close bond now, and she follows me everywhere.  Annie's loving demeaner makes her goat of the year for 2022.

Ginger

2021 - GINGER

Ginger was one of our first 7 goats!! She was also the first one to get a de-worming, bless her heart. She was the friendliest of all the goats and would do anything for food.  Ginger was named for her beautiful color. She also has haunting blue eyes. While she did not end up being the "alpha" goat of the group she still always manages to get her way. Ginger's favor thing to do in crawl under barns. She thinks no one can find her but we know her game. Ginger's crazy personality makes her goat of the year for 2021.

Black Phillip

2020 - BLACK PHILLIP

Phillip was our very first Buck! We named him for goat in the movie "Wiitch".  He's literally the "daddy of them all". I have to be totally transparent - I was scared of him when he first arrived on the farm. Thanks to my neighbor Lori Knox and her son Griff, they taught me how to let him know who was boss! He's actually incredibly sweet, and turns out, he's nothing like the scary goat in the movie. Phillip is our GSF mascot and goat of the year for 2022.
